Pen weigh dates for trials are flexible and dependent on protocol and needs.

Feed inventories taken at weigh dates according to protocol. Feeders normally measured, but typically vacuumed at younger ages.

Trial Options

Option One

Wean to Feeder(W2Fdr):  Pigs arrive at weaning (~21 days of age and ~13 lbs bwt) from GPP sow unit and stay for approximately 6 weeks or until ~55 lbs body weight.

Option Two

Feeder to Finish(GF):  Pigs start at ~55 lbs body weight and are on trial until marketed (~290 lbs).  Note: There is typically a nursery trial conducted the 6 weeks prior to the start of the GF trial.  Nursery trts are randomized across GF trts.

Option Three

Wean to Finish(W2F):  Pigs arrive at weaning (~21 days of age and ~13 lbs bwt) from GPP sow unit and stay until marketed (~290 lbs).

Option Four

Madden barn: small barn that occasionally experiences health challenges.
